Virtual Tour

Welcome to Parker Center Animal Clinic.  We have created this virtual tour to introduce new clients to our practice and to give everyone a peek behind the scenes.  We look forward to serving you and your pet.

When you step through our doors, you will notice the reception area is split into a cat side (left) and a dog side (right)  – to reduce stress for some of our patients.  Receptionists will help you and your pet get situated, schedule appointments, and answer any questions you may have (or get you to the person who can answer your questions).

The main lobby is designed for your convenience with a children’s table, toys, and fish tank top help keep your little ones entertained.  The television displays fun pet videos and informational slides, or you may choose to browse through our pet foods, supplements, and other pet products.

4 exam rooms are set up with similar equipment to allow the veterinarian to thoroughly examine your pet.  Each of these rooms is equipped with a computer allowing us to access your pet’s records, including x-rays, right there in the exam room with you.  The screens in each exam room allow for continued viewing of the videos and slides mentioned previously.  These rooms open in the front to the reception area, and in the back to the pharmacy and treatment area.

A 5th exam room is located at the far end of the reception area.  This room is larger and is set up differently than the other exam rooms.  While sometimes used for regular exams, we try to reserve it as a comfortable space for people to spend final moments with their pets.

The pharmacy is located directly behind the 4 regular exam rooms.  We stock many medications your pet may need so that you should not need to make a special trip to start your pet’s treatment.  These medications are purchased through legal channels and from established and reputable manufacturers and distributors.

Beyond the pharmacy is the treatment area.  This is the heart of the hospital containing specialized supplies and equipment, and we often bring pets to this area.  In the treatment area, you may find our veterinarians performing minor procedures such as laceration repairs, or our technicians drawing blood, changing bandages, trimming nails, or otherwise working with pets.

Conveniently located at the edge of the treatment area is the laboratory.  We have the ability to run most blood work within our hospital, as well as other diagnostic tests.  This gives us the opportunity to diagnose your pet quickly and begin treatment immediately.  In routine situations, we choose to send out blood work so that you may get more results for the same amount of money. The reference lab is able to run more tests for the same cost as they do a higher volume of testing.  For each pet undergoing surgery, we send out comprehensive blood work a couple of days before the surgery whenever possible.  This allows us to get the best possible picture of your pet’s health before surgery and anesthesia, and gives us an opportunity to adjust our protocols, or to put off surgery if needed.

Off the treatment area are our dog ward and cat ward.  These wards contain cages for dogs and cats staying for surgical procedures or non-infectious illnesses.  They are conveniently located near the treatment area where we can keep a close eye on them and be readily available to care for them.

Past the treatment area is our state-of-the-art surgical suite.  Within this specialized suite, we have the ability to view radiographs (x-rays), perform surgery, deliver anesthesia, monitor pets blood pressure, ECG, oxygen saturation, heart rate, temperature, and more!  We use the most current proven anesthesia and pain management protocols, and our veterinarians have even been involved in teaching newer protocols to other veterinarians.  Many of the anesthetic agents we use are the current standards in human medicine.  Our doctors gown up and “scrub in” for surgery just like you see on Grey’s Anatomy

You have the option of the use of the CO2 laser during many surgeries.  The laser (seen here) is used to cut in place of a scalpel.  It causes less bleeding, pain, and swelling because it does not tear or crush the tissues as it cuts and even seals tissues as it cuts.  Some surgeries, such as feline declaws, will require the use of the laser as it results in much less pain and shorter recovery times.
Another cutting-edge surgical option is laparoscopic assisted surgery - used for spays, gastropexies, and liver biopsies.  Dr. Motichka uses a small camera and tools inserted through a dime-sized opening making the procedure less invasive, resulting in less pain for your pet!

Our radiology (x-ray) area is outfitted with digital radiology.  Because we are not using film, we do not have to use the chemicals required for processing.  The digital x-rays allow us to brighten or darken the views, as well as selectively enlarge areas of the x-ray for better diagnostics.  Additionally, we are able to e-mail the images to specialists for immediate consultations when necessary!  We can even send you home with a copy of your pet’s x-ray, printed out or saved to a disk.  This latest advancement in technology gives us a diagnostic edge as well as being environmentally friendly and health conscious.

Surgeries and other procedures require sterile instruments.  In our Prep Room, we house and prepare our surgical packs.

We have an Isolation Ward that is reserved for pets who are or may be contagious who require hospitalization.  This ward is located some distance from our other wards and out of the path of any other pets.  All equipment used in the isolation ward is used only in the isolation ward and we even have special clothing that is worn only in the isolation ward.  We follow special procedures to insure that infectious agents are minimized and contained.

Our dedicated dental suite is outfitted with everything needed to perform a full pet dental procedure.  This separate room allows us to focus on dentistry as well as contain the bacteria dislodged during professional dental cleanings.  The dental suite is equipped with dental radiology (x-ray) as well as anesthesia and monitoring equipment much like that used in the surgery suite.

We have a few large dog kennels (runs) that are used for medical boarding.  Access to the kennels is through our prep kitchen where our team prepares pets’ meals and does laundry.  We use a lot of towels and blankets while caring for pets and we gratefully accept donations of these for such use.
