Puppy

Our Top Dog Puppy Package provides for your dog's wellness needs for it's
first year of life including wellness exams, vaccines, fecal analysis, nail
trims, three months of heartworm and parasite prevention, the spay or neuter done with
the laser, and a four week puppy training class. The cost of the Top
Dog Puppy Package is $735 which may be paid at one visit, or in three
payments of $245 at your puppy's first three visits.
Puppy Class The puppy period is a
very important time in the life of your dog. Behaviors that are learned
during this time often stick for life. Because of this, we offer puppy
classes to help get you and your pet off to the right start. This four
week series is held on Saturdays at our hospital. The puppy classes offer
socialization with both people and dogs to allow your pup to learn the rules
in both the dog world and the human world, as well as offering basic
training, and a chance to get your health and behavior questions addressed
in an intimate and fun environment. Each class is limited to 6 puppies
and their people, so please register now if you are interested. For
more information, please call our hospital at 303-841-8833 and ask for
Shelly.
Wellness Exams
Puppies receive a complete physical exam at each puppy visit. The
areas examined include your pet's ears, eyes, gastro-intestinal system and
abdomen, heart and cardiovascular system, lungs/trachea and respiratory
system, lymph nodes and thyroid gland, musculoskeletal system, nervous
system, nose and throat, skin and hair coat, urogenital system, and
mouth/teeth/and gums.
At PCAC, our complete wellness exams are one
of the things that set us apart from other hospitals. Clients have
said things such as "My pet has never been thoroughly examined like that
before!" In addition to the doctor discussing the exam with you,
every pet receives a complete report with an
explanation of each system examined and the findings.
Spay or Neuter Surgery
Congratulations for making the decision to spay or neuter your pet! At
PCAC, we use advanced pain management protocols to minimize your pet's discomfort. Our advanced anesthesia protocols allow us to perform
your dog's spay or neuter surgery
using less anesthesia making it safer for your pet. We have a
certified veterinary technician dedicated to monitoring your pet throughout
anesthesia AND a certified veterinary technician dedicated to caring for
your dog throughout their recovery. We use both phone calls and text
messages (with pictures) to keep you updated about your dog throughout the
day. Every puppy will have blood work prior to anesthesia so that we
can tailor the anesthesia to their specific health needs. Every puppy
also gets IV catheter and fluids to make it a safer experience - maintaining
their blood pressure throughout the surgery and protecting their kidneys.
We perform laser therapy at every surgery site to help reduce pain and
improve healing. You can opt for laser surgery for your dog for less
pain, less bleeding, and less bruising of the tissues. For the best
option, choose laparoscopic surgery for your dog's spay (the laser is used during laparoscopic
surgery)!
Laparoscopic Surgery
Available for spays, gastropexies, and some other surgeries - laparoscopy
offers the best surgery option for pets.
The surgeon performs the surgery using a camera and tools inserted through a
dime-sized hole. Benefits are:
●Much Less Pain
●Less Bleeding
●More Precision
●Easier Recovery
Watch the video below for a preview of a laparoscopic dog
spay. Get to see inside a dog (no bleeding).
Gastropexy is a surgery to prevent GDV, or bloat (stomach twisting) which is
an often fatal condition that may occur in large breed dogs.
Gastropexy involves tacking the stomach to the abdominal wall so that such
twisting cannot occur. This procedure is often added on at the time of
the dog spay or neuter. Traditional gastropexy surgery involved a huge
incision and was very painful. At PCAC, we do gastropexies only by
laparoscopy because of the great reduction in pain it provides.
(Parker Center Animal Clinic is proud to be the only general practice
veterinary hospital in Parker to offer such advanced technology as
laparoscopic surgery for your pets.)
