Pets need more care more often as they age.
Because pets age more quickly than we do,
most pets seven years and older are considered senior pets. As they
age more quickly, their diseases also advance more quickly. We
recommend wellness exams every six months for pets seven and older.
Senior Care Package We have put together a Senior Optimum
Wellness Program, a yearly package that includes our recommendation for pets
seven and older for one price. Included in the Senior Optimum Wellness
Program are diagnostics to screen for diseases of the heart, kidneys, liver,
urinary tract and more. Many symptoms that are considered "just part
of aging" can be improved with age-optimized nutrition, medications, or
other treatment options. Please call to schedule your pet's senior
wellness appointment today.
Multi-Modal Arthritis Treatment
Getting stiff and painful does not have to be just a part of getting older,
There is no cure for arthritis, but there are many ways to improve mobility
and relieve the pain it causes. We have a multi-modal approach to
arthritis management for our pets.
Treatment can include:
●Weight Management - decreasing the amount
of stress placed on joints as well as decreasing the
inflammation in those joints.
●Moderate Exercise - to strengthen and stretch
the muscles to protect the joints
●Neutraceuticals (Dasuquin) glucosamine
supplements to support healthy cartilage production.
●Adequan (injectable) prevents wearing of
cartilage, slows progression of arthritis.
●Hills J/d diet, decreases inflammation,
increases production of lean muscle, helps block breakdown of cartilage.
●Rimadyl, metacam, deramaxx - prescription
medications that help reduce pain and inflammation.
●Laser Therapy - FDA approved treatment,
stimulates injured cells to heal at a faster rate. Eases pain and
improves mobility.
Advanced Diagnostics Routine (preventative) blood work provides a
more complete picture of our pets' health since symptoms are often not
apparent until advanced stages of many diseases. We offer complete
blood work including CBC's, chemistries, heartworm tests, and drug
maintenance screening. Early Renal Disease screening (ERD) and Blood
Pressure screening are useful tools as well as measuring eye pressures to
screen for glaucoma. Our digital x-ray, in-house digital ultrasound,
and video otoscopy are available to aid in quickly diagnosing and treating
your pet should the need arise. Please ask us for more information about
preventative diagnostics for your pet.
Weight Management A recent study showed
that pets who are at their healthy weight live an average of two years
longer! Because so many pets are overweight, many people believe their
pet is at a healthy weight when it is actually much heavier than desirable.
Diabetes, heart disease, and joint issues are just a few of the problems
that are more prevalent in overweight pets.
We want to partner with you in your efforts to tackle your pet's weight
issues. Our clients are having great success with our weight loss
challenge. Some are using Slentrol, a weight loss medication, others
are using diet and exercise alone, but all are checking in frequently and
getting help and encouragement. Let us partner with you in your
efforts to get your pet healthier! Call or

Dentistry Dental health is an important part of your pet's overall health.
The bacteria that build up during dental disease can enter the blood stream
and lead to heart disease, kidney disease, and other problems. By
removing painful teeth, dentistry can often improve your pet's quality of
life.
Dentistry at PCAC falls into two categories:
Moderate Sedation Dentals for
prophylactic cleanings, and Anesthetic Dental
Procedures for minor to advanced periodontal disease. Both types
of dental procedures include a complete oral exam with charting, ultrasonic
cleaning both above and below the gumline (where most the disease is),
polishing of the teeth, and fluoride treatment.
